Health-Conscious Consumers Look for Organic, Non-GMO Products
March 2017 | Specialty Food News |
About eight in 10 health-conscious consumers look for labels with fewer ingredients, all of which they can pronounce, according to the 2017 Market Lifestyle Of Health And Sustainability Health & Natural Consumer Survey Study. Consumers cited health and the environment as the top two motivations for purchasing organic food, and health and sustainability for buying non-GMO. Purchases of plant-based products are also driven by health and nutrition and environmental concerns.
Shoppers are buying their healthy products at a wider range of stores, such as Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Target, Price Clubs, and online retailers. Prices and in-store specials are the biggest influences on store choice.
