TRANSCRIPTION: If you change multiple gene functions (as gene editing can do and has been observed to do), you can radically alter the biochemistry of a plant, of a food plot, of a crop. It may look right. It may look like what you wanted, you know. The maize may look like a corn plant, or a soybean may still look like a soybean and corn plant and propagate, but on the level of its biochemical function it could be radically different.
Within that altered biochemistry we run the risk of producing novel toxins, novel allergens, or increasing the levels of pre-existing allergens and toxins. it means the market could be flooded with food products, gene edited food products, that have undergone no health risk evaluation & no environmental risk evaluation.
They will not be labeled post-marketing and therefore people will not know what they’re eating. Even organic farmers may be buying seeds that they will not know have been gene edited and will grow them and sell the product as an organic product when actually what they’re doing is growing and selling a GMO.
